The first is a fishing village where the harbor empties out completely at low tide, leaving boats resting flat on the mud like they're taking a nap. The second has a bakery that only sells one thing, a dense rye bread, and closes the moment it sells out — usually by nine in the morning. The third I'm not going to name, because the one cafe there is small enough that I'd feel bad sending a crowd.
What they share is a total lack of anything you'd call an attraction. No landmark, no plaque, nothing in a guidebook. Just a place that's been quietly itself for a long time, which turns out to be reason enough to go.
